Referral Indications

Urgent Referrals (Within 24-48 hours):

  • • Sudden vision loss or severe vision decrease
  • • New onset of flashing lights and floaters
  • • Curtain or shadow in visual field
  • • Central scotoma with metamorphopsia
  • • Severe proliferative diabetic retinopathy
  • • Retinal detachment suspected

Routine Referrals (Within 1-2 weeks):

  • • Macular degeneration evaluation
  • • Diabetic retinopathy management
  • • Retinal vein occlusion
  • • Epiretinal membrane
  • • Macular hole or pucker
  • • Posterior vitreous detachment with symptoms

Screening Referrals:

  • • High-risk diabetic patients
  • • Family history of retinal disease
  • • High myopia with retinal changes
  • • Suspicious retinal lesions
